Evenings of Inspiration
Bristol's very own nasheed star, Ferzeen Nazeer performed at the City Academy, Bristol in July 06.
The evening told the story of the life of the Prophet Muhammad, through nasheeds, poetry and sayings of the Prophet himself (peace be upon him)
Hosted by one of BMCS’s Directors Kalsoom Bashir and staff member Farooq Siddique, the evening was truly a well-choreographed event. Some of the songs brought tears to the eyes of many in the audience and there were also some delightful performances from the younger members of the Muslim community. There was also an Islamic Art display which people were able to admire during the interval.
Proceeds from the sales of tickets were donated to the Indonesian Earthquake Appeal.
There being a thirst for nasheed events, we sold-out tickets very quickly when we organised a coach trip to 'Evening of Inspiration' Event in Birmingham earlier on this year.
There was something for everyone with performers ranging from the more traditional artists like Zain Bhika alongside more contemporary artists that have a strong following amongst the youth such as Outlandish. This year the audience was treated to a special comedy set by stand-up comedian Mo Amer from the US. |
